Steelers, Ben Rothlisberger Return

An anticipated return to Pittsburgh Steelers squad has been the team’s Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. This is what most of his fans want. The QB has been out of active play following the September 27th, 2015 game when he sustained a sprained MCL and bone bruise, playing against St. Louis Rams. Roethlisberger suffered the injury when a Rams defense player stumbled and fell onto the quarterbacks left leg. This injury did not deem a surgery necessary, with assessment of the team doctor requiring the player’s absence of between four to six weeks.

Reports of Roethlisberger working tirelessly to return to active play led to his anticipated return, to play in this past week’s game against Kansas City Chiefs. This was however not to be with the Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin having to rule him inactive. The game ended with the Steelers sustaining a 13 – 23 loss to the Chiefs, marking their third loss this season. This season also is Roethlisberger’s 12th season, which has been marked with stellar performance by the NFL professional who has not missed more than four games since he was drafted in 2004. Notable also is the fact that Roethlisberger has in the past two years been on the field for every regular season game.

Over this period of Roethlisbergers injury and absence from active play, both Mike Vick and Landry Jones have had to hold the reigns for the Steelers. Mike Vick who is the back-up quarterback however suffered a strained right hamstring in week 6’s season game with Arizona Cardinals which was won by the Steelers 25 – 13. This led to Landry Jones replacing Vick in the third quarter against Arizona and playing against Chiefs. He is also expected to start for the Steelers in week 8’s game against Cincinnati Bengals on the 1st of November, a game that will mark the possibility of Roethlisberger’s return after four weeks of absence.
